README.txt vb1.0 - SiConnect functionality. Events from the hardware (Saitek panel) can either be through flight simulator with direct interfacting (currenty with FSX using SimConnect) or as keys strokes. This has only been tested with FSX Gold. Please email if this does not work for you. vb0.04 - Removal of keypress duration field (though was never active). - repeated keypresses now active. In FSX Cowl up requires more than one keypress to move from top to bottom. by setting presses to 4 this should allow this problem to be solved. VIRUS CHECKER. Macafee may report this as a POSSIBLE virus. This may be due to unfamiliarity with the developer. This contains no viruses. Please always scan any downloaded files first and look for a definative result. If any server is subject to a virus this can affect any programs stored on that server. I have not yet had time to set up an installer, but manual installation is fairly straght forward. The software can be saved to any directory where file write permission is allowed. System directories (e.g. Program Files) may require the software to run as administrator in order to load or save profiles. PLEASE RENAME YOUR DEFAULT PROFILES BEFORE UPDATING. This way the new version will not overwrite your previous hard work you may have put in. You can then delete the new current profile and rename it profile.psv (the default profile), if you wish. I recommend installing to : C:\Apps\FSUtil\FSInControl (create Apps and Fsutil first). I have not yet tested adding this to your main flight simulator directory which may also work. Easiest way is create the Folders save the zip to FSUTil. Then Extract All. This will overwrite previous versions so if you do wish to keep these please rename or backup. Run this program whilst or before FSX is running. Either manually create a shortcut or use a specific script to auto start this. (Also see FSX section on XML.exe) INSTRUCTIONS Formal instructions as a manual will follow in the near future. Please email any queries to the address at the bottom of this document. The software can assigns keys to each panel click, i.e. magneto to Start (Ctrl E),Gear change to 'g'. These are saved in a profile, ,.prv files. profile.prv is the default but you can save as say cessna.prv and manually load this one. In no keys are assigned and the software supports direct interfacing this will be automatically assigned. This requires Modifier keys to be None and keycode to zero. To assign keys use the Key Code finder at the top panel. Click into the edit box and type a key. This will return the code. Do not use shift/alt/control in this box, you add that later. Add the keycode to the control/switch you wish it to be assigned to. i.e. g is Code 71. For shift or control or alt use the modifier drop down selector. Set the amount of keypresses you require. Landing gear LED sequences are set for changes and can be changed. 0 duration means there is no switch off. Each switch has two key presses: an "on" and an "off". Each can be assigned. However if a switch is a toggle switch like landing gear i FSX then both would use g. Some controls may be specific one key for on and another for off. TEMPLATES ======== You may wish to have a card or paper template between switched to use custom presses(or a sticker). You could have one corresponding to specific profiles. FSX --- SimConect is now supported and will send events and correctly handle the landing gear indicators directly from the software. SimConnect This software and most other software connect to FSX by using SimConnect. If the software appears not to work with your version you may wish to try installing other versions. These are available from e.g. http://www.fspassengers.com/?action=simconnect. If you do have difficulty or it does not appear to work, please email me with your version of flight simulator and, if you know it, the simconnect dll versions. You can find this out by: 1. Opening C:\Windows\winsxs then searching on flight. You may see something like x86_microsoft.flightsimulator.simconnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.61242.0_none_e079b46b85043c20. The version would be 10.0.6124. 2. Additionally, there will be a build version. To get this, go into the directory and right click PROPERTIES, then click DETAILS, then FILE VERSION. This may be the same or different to the folder version. AutoLoad -------- In FSX, if you feel confident doing this then you can edit the exe.xml. C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX where {USERNAME} is replaced by your windows username. This is using the path C:\Apps\FSUtil\FSInControl\fsincontrol.exe but you may use your own install folder. Add Caledonia Software - Saitek Panel False C:\Apps\FSUtil\FSInControl\fsincontrol.exe -run Additionally please copy the profile.psv file to the main FSX folder i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X. This does not require the existing logitech plug in. This or these can be disabled by setting the Disabled tag from False to True in the logitech Add on XML structure. MORE FSX CONTROL ---------------- In Settings->Controls->Buttons you will notice Avionics master is not set. To make the button work you can assign this to say SHIFT-# for example. Then in this software you would assign the modifier key to SHIFT and the key code to 222. If this varies with keyboard use the keycode finder at the top panel. Please see the links below for better key usage. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Key_Mapping_%28FSX%29 to remap keys in FSX. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Keys_-_Listing_-_Default_Types_%28FSXA%29 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joigCHmWUlM There may be ways or add ons to assign keys to more specific uses not normally available. STATUS OF SOFTWARE The software currently uses key stroke output to simulate keyboard presses from the Saitek panel. These are all configurable and can be saved as a profile. The default profile always loads automatically. profile.psv. Later development will aim to provide direct access to Flight Gear and FSX or other simconnect sims. X--plane already seems to be very well supported with Saitek. More info: please email fsupport@caledoniasoftware.co.uk
